PROJECT OVERVIEW

A remote off-grid research facility in south-west WA, delivered on budget and on schedule using prefabricated SIPs construction.
Bush Heritage Australia required a permanent, fully off-grid field station at Red Moort Reserve to support scientists working across the Stirling and Fitzgerald regions. The site's remoteness ruled out conventional on-site construction. The facility needed to be durable, thermally efficient, and capable of operating independently of mains power, water, and sewerage from day one.
SIPs Industries manufactured the modular facility off-site using SIPs By Design, with panels precision-cut to the architectural brief prepared by H&H Architects. The completed modules were transported to the reserve and installed on location by K Built Construction in a supply-and-install program designed around the logistical constraints of the remote site.
The facility was completed on budget and on schedule. The prefabricated construction method significantly reduced on-site labour time and disturbance to the surrounding reserve, with the thermal performance of the panels supporting the solar, rainwater, and waste management systems already specified for the build.
THE RESULT
Off-Grid. Remote. Built to Last.
A purpose-built off-grid research facility in remote south-west WA, manufactured off-site by SIPs Industries and installed on location, completed on budget and on schedule despite the challenges of remote delivery.
