Two architect-designed townhouses in Subiaco where 1,100m² of SIPs wall and roof panels were installed in 18 days.
When Palassis Architects began planning two side-by-side townhouses in Subiaco, the brief called for a building envelope that could meet the thermal performance expectations of architecturally designed homes while keeping the construction program tight. The density of the suburb and the scale of the two-dwelling project made a fast, precise installation method commercially important from the outset.
SIPs Industries worked with the project team to supply 1,100m² of wall and roof panels sized and cut to the architectural drawings. The panels were manufactured off-site and delivered to the Subiaco site ready for installation, with a supply-only program that allowed the builder to take the structure to lock-up quickly and without the sequencing delays typical of conventional framing.
Installation across both townhouses was completed in 18 days. The prefabricated panel system delivered a high-performance building envelope as a direct result of the construction method, without requiring additional insulation upgrades or remediation work on site.
